The only way Clary can save her mother is to travel to the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters. But she is not welcome there, so Clary must master her newfound power, defeat Valentine, and save her mother. Simon is also in the City of Glass, but not as a guest. He is kept there as a prisoner, a vampire who is untouched by sunlight is not a very welcome guest. Nor is any Downworlder for that matter...
